I know this doesn't have anything to do with what I sell, but in researching different techniques for making resin I discovered a new gem on YouTube. For resin ideas I usually watch Steve McDonald Arts and Crafts and some other random people, a new one being Emory's Art Space, which they all have pretty good ideas. Anyway, while I was researching ideas for resin I got a little distracted (as can happen which on YouTube) and watched a few DIY videos by Our Oily House. Our Oily House is all about essential oils and how they benefit you, and ways to get chemicals out of your house and use all natural products. They made a really easy to do recipe on making a DIY All Purpose Cleaner, and I just had to share it after trying it out myself.
The recipe is really simple, you mix a cup white vinegar, 25 drops of lemon essential oil, and then you fill up the remaining 16 oz glass amber spray bottle with water (boiled or distilled water will make the solution last longer). Simple, easy, and very effective. I used the spray on the mirror in our bathroom and wiped it with a microfiber cloth and it turned out really clear, no streaks - I was skeptical when she said she uses it for mirrors. I used it on the counter in the bathroom, and even the toilet. It worked beautifully, especially considering I used her older recipe which contains a lot less vinegar (1/4 cup) - I hadn't seen the newer recipe till I was looking for the url link for her video to post on this blog. I really recommend this recipe (as long as your not allergic to lemon essential oil or vinegar) to switch out for some of your current cleaners.
Here's a link to her video:
She does warn that this is not a good cleaner for granite since it does contain vinegar in it, but she does have a homemade granite countertop cleaner video as well (I have not personally tried the recipe yet though).
I've made a few other recipes she's given and so far I love them, but they're still a little too new to write anything about yet, as results will take multiple uses (I made her face wash and face serum). She has some great videos that I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of, so I advise you all to watch her videos yourself for things you may want to use natural products for. Hopefully she doesn't mind me sharing her video ;) with you all.
Don't forget to check out my website, https://www.rachelsmadness.comI have been adding new things to it when I can, currently I'm in the middle of a few resin projects and some candle projects. I'll continue to add them as I complete them. If you have something specific you'd like to see on my site, or a special order; you can always email me at rachelsmadness@gmail.com.
